The show featured an interesting line-up of local and international music artists.
It started off with local rap/ hip hop artist, Mikki Murshed followed by a performance by ZOH – DJ and producer born in Pakistan and brought up in the UAE. ZOH first tasted success in 2013 when the BBC play-listed his track ‘Jump’ for 3 months.
The Pakistani artists were joined by Haider Mustehsan, Osama Com Laude, Shamoon Ismail, L.U.G Group (Lyari UnderGround), Valentino Khan, Chrome Sparks and duo Adil Omar and Talal Qureshi also known as SNKM. Lyari Underground talks about injustice, human rights and the culture in Lyari in their songs. Most notably, Valentino Khan’s remix of Gent & Jawns’ song “Holler” was released through Diplo’s record label Mad Decent.
Adil Omar and Talal Qureshi (SNKM) both share production, songwriting and vocal duties. Their sound contains a wide range of elements including pop, hip hop, industrial, rock ‘n’ roll and psychedelic. The memorable evening ended with the much-appreciated performance by American group major Lazer. The show was sponsored by Cornetto, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and beverage sponsor Mountain Dew.
